   1. Hand out poems.

   3. Read and annotate, circle key terms necessary to understand the text, underline important claims by each poet.
   4. Written Response:
      • “New Colossus” and “Unguarded Gates” Written Response
        Summarize both poets' portrayal of immigration and address the following: Why
        might people have different views on immigration? How can those different views
        affect how people are treated?
